Amazon on Tuesday announced a Kim Porter memoir is no longer “available for sale” in their store after the deceased model’s children debunked its authenticity. The memoir in question detailed instances where the model and actress was abused by their embattled father Sean “Diddy” Combs.
Porter, 47, and Combs 54, share three children – Christian (King) Combs and twins, D’Lila and Jessie Combs. Porter also shares a son, Quincy Brown, with R&B singer Al B. Sure!. The statement released by their children on September 24 came after federal agents arrested Combs at a Manhattan hotel on Monday, September 16.
Combs and Porter’s children responded to the claim after it was reported that Porter had saved a memoir on a hard drive before she passed away, the Daily Mail reported. The memoir, titled KIM’S LOST WORDS: A Journey for Justice, From the Other Side, was released by record producer Chris Todd on September 6. But her children in their statement on Instagram said she never wrote that memoir.
“We were made aware of a dispute regarding this title and have notified the publisher,” an Amazon spokesperson said in a statement, per The Associated Press. “The book is not currently available for sale in our store.”
The $22 paperback book contains stories claiming Combs allegedly engaged in physical abuse, sexual coercion, and other violent actions. And though the memoir was released on Amazon without any huge publicity, sales significantly went up after Combs was arrested and charged with sex trafficking, racketeering conspiracy, and transportation to engage in prostitution.
In September, the memoir ultimately peaked at number one on Amazon’s bestseller list before it later fell down the pecking order and was removed from the site.
As previously reported by Face2Face Africa, Porter passed away on November 15, 2018, in her Los Angeles home. The coroner previously filed the model and actress’ cause of death as “deferred” before updating it to lobar pneumonia.
