The highly anticipated Kingdom World Tour literally took the capital city Accra, Ghana by storm! Featuring Grammy award winning artiste Kirk Franklin and the sensational contemporary Christian band, Maverick City Music, the event saw thousands gather at the venue, the First Love Center for an absolutely enthralling night of jubilant praise and captivating worship experience.

At a press soiree held in Accra earlier, Eddie Ampah, manager in charge of partnerships at Culture Management Group (CMG) Gospel (organizers of this massive concert in collaboration with Faith Collective), shared the vision behind this global tour.

“The Kingdom Tour aims to inspire and uplift through the power of faith and humanity expressed through music,” he stated.

And that is exactly what it did! Thousands of concert lovers were uplifted and inspired, immersed in the music and energy of the crowd, singing along with each song. It was a simply electrifying atmosphere!

Maverick City Music is an American contemporary worship music collective founded in 2018 by Norman Gyamfi and Jonathan Jay originating from Atlanta, Georgia. They already have to their credit 5 Grammy Awards, 4 GMA Dove Awards, 1 Billboard Music Award, and 1 Soul Train Music Award.

This was their first time ministering in Ghana and they were absolutely thrilled and energized by the warmth and receptivity they received.

Kirk Franklin, 54-year-old “Reigning King of Urban Gospel” whose accolades include 20 Grammy Awards, was in Ghana for the second time. He was equally ecstatic to be in the West African country again.

He popped out on stage a few minutes into the performance by Maverick City, setting the stage ablaze with his still very intact and impressive signature dance moves and allowing the audience to sing to some of his popular songs. The energetic gospel act later hopped on the keyboard, playing some well-known hit songs which captivated the crowds.

After almost an hour of performance with Maverick City and Nigerian superstar Tim Godfrey, Kirk Franklin thanked Ghana for the overwhelming love and support and handed over the baton to the incredibly skilled Team Eternity Ghana and sweetly gifted Luigi Maclean.

Next was the young, promising and three-time Ghana Music Awards nominee for vocalist of the year, Kyei Mensah, who mounted the stage to give the audience a short but impactful time.

The 2017 Ghana Music Awards Artist of the Year, Joe Mettle, crowned the event with his spectacular performance, leaving the attendees with a completely memorable experience etched in their minds and hearts.

Originally scheduled to take place at the ICGC Christ Temple East, the long awaited event had to be relocated to The First Love Center due to a few last-minute challenges. This caused some hitches and delays in the original start time of the show from 5pm to after 8pm. However, patrons waited to enjoy every part of it.

The African leg of the Kingdom World Tour has seen packed audiences in Johannesburg – South Africa, Harare – Zimbabwe, Lusaka – Zambia, Lilongwe – Malawi and Dar es Salaam – Tanzania.

Altogether, the Accra – Ghana edition was a massively successful event and certainly a beautiful bridge between the diaspora and the continent!
