The lawyer for Shannon Sharpe’s rape accuser in a recent interview stated that he won’t be releasing a sex video involving the former Denver Broncos star and the plaintiff as it would be used as “key evidence” in the case he’s facing.
As previously reported by Face2Face Africa, Sharpe’s rape accuser, identified as Jane Doe, filed a $50 million civil sexual assault lawsuit against him in Nevada on April 20. In an interview with TMZ Sports, the plaintiff’s lawyer, Tony Buzbee, said they do not intend to release the sex tape to the media.
“The only reason you know about the existence of a video recording is that Mr. Sharpe specifically referenced it in his bulls*** statement,” Buzbee said. “The contents of the video was shared during the mediation process with Sharpe’s attorneys. Again, Sharpe and his team disclosed that, not us. Sharpe himself was offered on more than one occasion to view it himself. He declined. We’ve never made any claims or threats about it and won’t do so.”
“And no,” he continued. “we won’t be ‘releasing’ the video as it is key evidence in the case and will be treated as such.”
Sharpe previously made mention of the footage in question when he released a video statement to respond to the allegations. The 56-year-old in the April 22 statement labeled the allegations as “a shakedown.”
“This is all being orchestrated by Tony Buzbee, who has targeted Jay-Z. Tony Buzbee targets black men, and I believe he’s going to release a 30-second clip of a sex tape that tries to make me look guilty and play into every stereotype you could possibly imagine. That video should actually be 10 minutes or so,” Sharpe said.
“Hey Tony, instead of releasing your edit, put the whole video out. I don’t have it or I would myself you know what happened and you’re trying to manipulate the media.”
Doe in her lawsuit stated that she and Sharpe met at a Los Angeles gym in 2023. She said she was 20 years old at the time, and she and Sharpe established a consensual relationship. She, however, claimed that the relationship was abusive and controlling.
Doe in her lawsuit also accused Sharpe of raping her in 2024 after she attempted to end their relationship. She alleged Sharpe sexually assaulted her again in January 2025, per TMZ.
Sharpe has, however, denied those allegations.
