Los Angeles Lakers superstar Luka Doncic recently performed another goodwill gesture as he donated $5,000 to help with the restoration of a Kobe and Gigi Bryant mural that was vandalized.

Per TMZ, the money that Doncic, 26, donated to the fundraiser matched the total amount the campaign was looking to raise for the restoration project. The mural in question shows Kobe kissing his daughter Gigi on the cheek.

The anonymous individual(s) who defaced the mural used white graffiti paint to distort the artwork, and the vandalization reportedly stemmed from street artists involved in a beef.

The artist behind the mural goes by the name “Sloe Motions.” The name was, however, defaced, and it was replaced with, “Keep running your mouth, p***y.” That threat was, however, sprayed on and another one was written under it. “Leave a name, p***y! Don’t B scared,” the other message read.

After Kobe and his daughter Gigi tragically passed away in January 2020, hundreds of artworks of the pair were made in their honor in Los Angeles. It is also reportedly known that those artworks shouldn’t be vandalized.

On January 26, 2020, Kobe Bryant, 41, was on board the Sikorsky S-76B with his 13-year-old daughter, Gianna, alongside seven others, when the helicopter suddenly banked and plunged into the hills in southern California, Face2Face Africa reported at the time. There were no survivors.

Doncic donating the money for the restoration of the mural similarly came after he and the Jordan brand covered the parking bills of fans during the Lakers’ February 25 game against his former team the Dallas Mavericks at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.
