Edwin Mahinda
The Kenyan actor is famed for movies such as The Kitchen Toto (1987), White Mischief (1987) and The Lion of Africa (1988). In The Kitchen Toto, a British drama film set in Kenya in 1950, a preacher is killed for speaking out against the Mau Mau. He left his young son, Mwangi (played by Mahinda) behind. Mwangi eventually goes to work with a local British police chief as a kitchen toto or helper. But things didn’t turn out the way Mwangi wanted as the Mau Mau pursued him, demanding that he joined them.
