When the Mother allegedly put up the first advertisement for her 19-month-old son, it was immediately flagged and removed from the site.
However, the second time the ad was placed in the “Baby and Kids” sale section with the heading “baby car seat” (pictured).
This time, an agent pretended to be a buyer and the Mother was immediately arrested.
About the incident, Police Spokesman Brigadier Hangwani Mulaudzi explains, “Someone alerted us to the advert. We made contact with the young lady and met with her undercover on Tuesday.
“We had told her that we would make the cash transaction she asked for. We arrested her as soon as we met with her.”
While the toddler is with social workers, the Mother will be kept in custody in Pietermaritzburg until October 26th, so police can investigate the case more.
