During a recent interview with The Sunday Times, British-Jamaican supermodel Naomi Campbell confirmed her two children were born via surrogacy.

Campbell announced the birth of her first child in May 2021 when she was 50. She disclosed on Instagram at the time that she is now the mother of a baby girl. She subsequently announced the birth of her son in 2023.

And though Campbell, 54, has largely kept her children away from the limelight, she recently opened up about how they were born, saying it was via surrogacy. “I did,” she told the news outlet.

Campbell in the interview also touched on how motherhood has changed her. “My babies are everything to me. It’s made me fear for the future,” she said. “I hope for a better world for my children. They are 110 percent my priority. I have to be there for them on their first day at school.”

Though Campbell entered the modeling industry when she was very young, she said she’s not sure she wants her daughter to start working at such an age. “I’m not sure I would let her start working at 15. It’s a ruthless world,” she stated.

Campbell, who also said she loved being a “single mother”, sent out a word of advice to “young girls” who are in a dilemma about whether to have a child. “I have said, ‘You will change your mind. You will want to be a mum,'” the 54-year-old said.

“I understand [that] economically it is tough. But my mum had nothing and she made it work. It’s worth it. It is so amazing.”

In a previous interview with British Vogue, Campbell opened up about how she’s enjoying motherhood and indicated that her daughter wasn’t adopted.  “She wasn’t adopted – she’s my child,” she said at the time, adding that just a few people were aware she was going to have a child during that period.

“I can count on one hand the number of people who knew that I was having her,” she revealed. “But she is the biggest blessing I could ever imagine. It’s the best thing I’ve ever done.”

Campbell, who became the first Black British model to appear on the cover of British Vogue, has earned praise for her charity work. She continues to be a vocal voice against prejudice and discrimination in the industry.
