New Los Angeles Lakers star Luka Dončić has revealed that sharing the same locker room and shirt with legendary forward LeBron James is ‘a dream come true.’

Dončić was involved in one of the biggest swaps in NBA history on Sunday and shared his thoughts on his new move and what it means to compete with the legendary King James.

Speaking in a press conference on Tuesday after being traded from the Dallas Mavericks, Dončić said it’s “just like a dream come true” to be on the same team with LeBron James.

“I always look up to him. … It’s an amazing feeling,” he added.

The new Lakers star also paid his respects to the late Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gigi, stating it would be truly remarkable if they were here to witness his exploits.

“I wish Kobe and Gigi were here to see this moment.”

The Slovenian superstar revealed he’s trying his best to adapt and eventually fit into the team after the shocking trade last weekend.

“That first day was really hard … I feel like the last 48 hours was one month,” Dončić stated.

Dončić revealed that he’s still processing his unexpected move from Dallas, but added that he’s focused on the next challenge in Los Angeles.

“I thought I was gonna stay my whole career there. Loyalty is a big word for me… [But] I got the ocean here. I get to play for the Lakers. Not many get to say that,” Luka Dončić said.

Fanatics in the world of sports were shocked by the Mavs’ decision on Sunday after they traded Dončić and forwards Maxi Kleber and Markieff Morris to the Lakers in exchange for the experienced Anthony Davis, guard Max Christie and a 2029 first-round pick.

Asked about why he thinks he was traded by Dallas, Dončić simply said, “They made a decision. I don’t know why.”

He also stated that he was in bed when he was notified of the shock move.  “I was asleep … I had to check my phone to see if it was April 1st.”

General manager of the Los Angeles Lakers Rob Pelinka deemed the acquisition of Dončić a “seismic event” in the history of the NBA.

According to a Bleacher Sport report, Pelinka revealed that negotiations between him and Harrison lasted for close to three weeks, and included team owner Jeanie Buss from the very start.

The Slovenian was also asked about the comments that emerged in recent days from his previous team and responded, “I am taking the high road.”

The Lakers now have one of the most effective stars in the NBA as their newest franchise cornerstone, and Dončić is the perfect star to succeed James once the legend calls it quits on his legendary career.

The new Lakers star was sidelined due to a left calf strain and has been missing in action since Christmas Day.

However, his recovery process is reportedly taking shape and a return is nearly here.

In 22 appearances this season, Luka Dončić averaged 28.1 points, 8.3 rebounds and 7.8 assists. To him, the switch comes as a new challenge but also a great opportunity to learn and enjoy the experience of featuring alongside King James.
