Nigeria has recently made headlines with news of corruption and the lack of political will to fight the canker. But interestingly, the country has come out as having the largest number of reputable persons in Africa. This is contained in the inaugural list of 100 Most Reputable Africans released by leading global reputation-management consulting company, Reputation Poll.
The list, which features individuals from diverse sectors including Leadership, Entertainment, Advocacy, Education and Business has representation from 33 African Countries with 55 males and 45 females. Nigeria is leading with 21 individuals, followed by South Africa, Kenya and Ghana. Rwanda’s Paul Kagame, Mauritius’s Ameenah Gurib, Nigeria’s Prof Yemi Osibanjo, and South Africa’s Cyril Ramaphosa are some of the prominent people who got featured on the list.
In Leadership, Dr Josephine Ojiambo, H.E Graça Machel DBE, Dr Paul Enenche and Winnie Byanyima are featured on the list. Ghana’s recently appointed special prosecutor, Martin Amidu and South Africa’s Public Prosecutor, Busisiwe Mkhwebane are also featured following their fight against corruption. Barclays Bank’s Patience Akyianu, Wendy Lucas Bull, Strive Masiyiwa, and Koos Bekker made the cut for leading personalities in business.
Reputation Poll annually ranks the 100 Most Reputable People on Earth and Most Reputable CEOs in various countries. Its aim is to honour individuals and organisations whose activities continue to make an impact on the lives of people in Africa and the world.
