NYPD Blue and CSI Miami actor Dwayne Adway filed a wrongful death lawsuit against his deceased daughter’s ex-boyfriend amid claims that she did not commit suicide and her death was suspicious.

Per TMZ, Adway in his lawsuit filed in L.A. County Superior Court on Monday is claiming that his daughter Daelena Mackay’s ex-boyfriend, Makar Kirikov, had something to do with her death.

Adway in the suit states that his daughter and Kirikov cohabitated in an apartment in Los Angeles for about a year. He said that during their period of staying together, Daelena “experienced multiple incidents of domestic violence” from Kirikov.

Adway said his daughter ultimately decided to end their relationship because of the alleged assault and started “communicating with another romantic partner.” The plaintiff said that on May 23, 2024, Daelena and Kirikov got into a tense argument at her apartment after the latter got jealous and upset over her decision to end things with the defendant.

Adway said that in the aftermath of their argument, Kirikov had claimed that he made his way out of her apartment, but he returned and noticed Daelena was hanging from a shower rod with a scarf, TMZ reported. But Adway is adamant Kirikov’s claim hasn’t been substantiated.

And besides also accusing the LAPD of failing to carry out a proper investigation, Adway said the department took Kirikov’s account of the incident. The City of Los Angeles as well as the Los Angeles County are also facing a lawsuit from Adway, and he’s accusing the two defendants of negligence and failure to train and supervise their officers.

Adway said the LAPD did not find any suicide note, adding that the investigation indicated a “systemic disregard for properly evaluating suspicious deaths involving young Black women.”

Adway also said that the abrasions and bruising found on his deceased daughter’s body indicated several signs of possible foul play, TMZ reported.
