Obama to Meet With African Presidents This Week

President Goodluck Jonathan of Nigeria is set for a White House visit on Tuesday, June 7. The meeting follows a tumultuous re-election for the second-time head of state, as tension rocked Nigeria while Jonathan was sworn in.

President Ali Bongo Ondimba of Gabon is also set for a visit to the White house, but on Wednesday, June 8. Ondimba currently serves as President of the UN Security Council.
USA Today reports that the meetings will likely include US diplomatic affairs with both countries.

Botswana and South Africa will also experience the official attention of First Lady, Michelle Obama, as she is set for a visit to both countries this month. According to South Africa’s Times Live, the visit will focus on “health and encouraging young people to excel.”

This will be Mrs. Obama’s second solo foreign trip since she became first lady. She will also go on the official visit with her two daughters, Sasha and Malia, and Marian Robinson, her mother.
