Leaders from around the world will come together to discuss the worldwide AIDS epidemic from June 8 – June 10 in New York.
During the 2011 UN General Assembly meeting on AIDS, UN member states are expected to agree to a new declaration that will shape the global course of action on AIDS programs worldwide.
According to the UN, steady progress is being made toward a reduction in the spread of AIDS and AIDS-related deaths. The UN also reports that although the times are looking optimistic concerning a reduction in the spread of AIDS, social stigma and discrimination remain an impediment to successful and comprehensive HIV-AIDS treatment and education.
