Patrick Mahomes remains the highest-paid quarterback in the NFL, despite Jordan Love’s four-year, $220 million extension from the Green Bay Packers which seeks to make him the highest-earning quarterback in NFL history.

Kansas City Chiefs player Mahomes will however maintain his status as the highest-paid quarterback in the NFL for the next three years, according to Pro Football Talk. Per his current contract, he is expected to make an average of $45 million per year.

This means that he will make less than eight other quarterbacks in the league. They include the Miami Dolphins’ Tua Tagovailoa, Detroit Lions’ Jared Goff, Los Angeles Chargers’ Justin Herbert, Baltimore Ravens’ Lamar Jackson, and Philadelphia Eagles’ Jalen Hurts, who will all make more than $50 million. Cincinnati Bengals’ Joe Burrow, Jacksonville Jaguars’ Trevor Lawrence and Love will make $55 million annually.

But if one focuses on the cash to be paid in the coming years, Mahomes still leads as the highest-paid quarterback. In other words, when it comes to four-year cash flow, Mahomes leads from 2023-26 and he will remain the leader from 2024-27.

He is expected to make $215.6 million from 2024 through 2027, followed by Burrow’s $213.9 million, according to Pro Football Talk.

“For some reason, the media at large only ever looks at new-money APY. Yes, Mahomes still lags on that factor. But he was due to make more than anyone from 2023 through 2026. And he’s due to make more than anyone from 2024 through 2027,” Pro Football Talk wrote.

Mahomes recently became the NFL’s most marketable player, with an estimated $20 million in off-field earnings. He was followed by three quarterbacks — the Dallas Cowboys’ Dak Prescott, the Denver Broncos’ Russell Wilson and Aaron Rodgers, Face2Face Africa previously reported.

He owns the NFL record for the largest contract with the ten-year, $450 million deal he signed in 2020, and has endorsement deals with almost 20 brands, including Hugo Boss, T-Mobile and Walmart.

Recently, he became the center of the Netflix docuseries Quarterback and he also invested in the National Women’s Soccer League’s Kansas City Current and a Major League Pickleball team, Forbes said. All in all, 27-year-old Mahomes made $40.5 million on-field and $20 million off-field, making him the second highest-paid NFL player.

Off the field, he is the second largest shareholder in American State Bank which is based in Tyler, Texas. Mahomes’ relationship with the bank dates back to when he first opened his account when he was only 16 years old. Since then, the bank has been part of his life, right from his collegiate days at Texas Tech University and his professional career in Kansas City.

He is also an investor in KMO Burger LLC, a franchisee that plans to open 30 Whataburger locations in the Kansas City area.

Mahomes is an investor in the Kansas City Royals and Sporting Kansas City, which is owned by his wife, Brittany. What is more, the NFL player has an interest in Whoop and Hyperice.
