Not a Walk in the Park
Despite his extensive expertise as a photographer, Hugo admits to having experienced some serious hurdles in the process.
Finding the right scenery to add meaning to the images was a great challenge for Hugo. Even more harrowing was the need to revisit some of the places he had previously seen in the media with piles of dead bodies.
In the end, Hugo’s success hinged on the dilemma every photographer faces: building enough trust with the subjects to reveal their authentic selves on camera.
“You can’t force emotion out of a child,” Hugo explains. “They have a real honest energy.”
