Rap artist Alyssa Michelle Stephens, best known as Latto, gave $35,000 to her old school, Lovejoy High School in Clayton County, as a homecoming gift.
The 24-year-old “Big Energy” performer even delivered food from Wingstop to the children, according to Fox5. Latto turned up at her old school and took pictures with the cheer squad and the homecoming court while holding a huge check that she signed with the nickname “Big Latto.”
Their day got even better when she crowned the homecoming queen and joined her in her TikTok video. “Issa partyyy!! The homecoming queen posted a caption for the video expressing her pleasure, saying, “I won homecoming queen and was crowned by Bigg Latto.”
“How y’all didn’t know I went to Lovejoy?” the young celebrity tweeted. In response to those who questioned her high school background, she said, “I went to Pointe South, Kemp & Rex Mill too.. Clayco baby fr.” She also mentioned her elementary and middle schools.
Latto founded Win Some Give Some in 2021 with the goal of “empowering at-risk young women by providing them with resources and support to achieve a lifetime of success,” according to the Los Angeles Times.
She was also given a key to the city of Rex, which is in Clayton County, during her Christmas charity event. The rapper, who was raised in the Atlanta region from the age of two, often mentions Clayton County in her songs.
She revealed to The Times in a 2022 interview that her profession began when she was a young Clayton County child. She composed a song for a video show that aired in the county’s schools every morning. At high school pep rallies, she gave performances. She distributed copies of her mixtapes and put her posters on buildings while driving around Atlanta in a van emblazoned with her photo.
