Sean “Diddy” Combs has officially been transferred to the Federal Correctional Institution, Fort Dix in New Jersey, which is the low-security federal prison he requested to serve his sentence, TMZ reported.
Combs was initially arrested by federal agents on September 16, 2024, and charged with sex trafficking, racketeering conspiracy, and transportation to engage in prostitution. Combs, who entered a not-guilty plea, was previously held without bail at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn.
On October 3, 2025, Judge Arun Subramanian ultimately sentenced Combs, 55, to 50 months in prison on prostitution-related charges. Judge Subramanian also fined him $500,000 and ordered five years of supervised release at a hearing in Manhattan federal court. Combs had faced up to 20 years behind bars.
Per TMZ, Combs began the check-in process at FCI Fort Dix on Thursday, following his transfer there in the early hours of that day. Combs being moved to the low-security federal prison comes after his request was granted by the Federal Bureau of Prisons.
Combs’ legal team had asked Judge Subramanian to recommend that he serve his sentence at FCI Fort Dix to enable him to “address drug abuse issues” and “maximize family visitation and rehabilitative efforts.”
And though federal prosecutors initially stated that they had “no position” in response to Combs’ request to serve his sentence at the low-security prison, his attorney, Mark Geragos, appeared to suggest that the 55-year-old will not be safe in any prison facility, stating on the 2 Angry Men podcast that other inmates will target the Bad Boy Records founder and New York native.

A few days ago, a friend of Combs also claimed that the convicted music executive faced a brutal knife attack at the hands of a fellow inmate. At the time, Combs was being held at the Metropolitan Detention Center, which is a notorious federal jail with a history of inmate murder, violence, suicide, and other shocking crimes.
Charlucci Finney, a friend of Combs, claimed that Combs was a victim of one of those acts of violence. He said Combs woke up in the night to find another inmate holding “a knife to his throat,” adding that the attack seemed to be a warning instead of an actual assault.
“He woke up with a knife to his throat,” Finney said to the Daily Mail. “I don’t know whether he fought him off or the guards came, I just know that it happened. If this guy had wanted to harm him, Sean would have been harmed. It would only take a second to cut his throat with a weapon and kill him.
“It was probably a way to say, ‘Next time you ain’t gonna be so lucky.’ Everything is intimidation. But with Sean, it won’t work. Sean is from Harlem.”
Finney, who has known Combs for more than three decades, did not state when the alleged attack took place, but his claims came just days after Combs indicated that he plans to appeal his sentence and conviction.
Combs is expected to complete his federal prison sentence in May 2028 unless he gets a pardon from President Donald Trump.
