Pierre Nkurunziza, Burundi (52)
Although his decision to hold on to power for a third term in April last year has been termed as unconstitutional, Pierre Nkurunziza is among the youngest African presidents at present. He was elected as President in 2005 succeeding President Domitien Ndayizeye. In 2009, Nkurunziza was awarded the “Model leader for a New Africa Award” by AFREG.
