The Ku Klux Klan was a racist group established by people who believed that white people were better and who wanted to see black people remain as slaves.

Yet, this white supremacist group is what a black teenager has admitted to being obsessed with, causing an uproar among the black population.

Identified only as Treasure, the black teenager during a popular television show Dr Phil,  shocked everyone over her love for the KKK and for the fact that she wants to be identified as white, insisting that she is “completely and utterly” better than black people.

“I just know that I am white. I can feel it through my veins,” the teen claimed.

“When it comes to black people, I think they’re all ugly — and I have nothing in common with them,” she said. “I’ll never be like any of those…”

The teenager told Dr Phil that one of the reasons she feels she is white is due to her body type.

“I know I’m a Caucasian because when I wake up in the morning, I just have such a great life and that my hair is so perfect; my skin isn’t ugly; and I’m not fat also, which is also really African American thing,” she said.

“So, like I’m just nowhere near like them, and plus they’re so thug and criminal — I can’t relate.”

Scores of viewers thought that Treasure was just putting up a show for the screens but her mother interjected, saying that her daughter truly believes she is white.

“My daughter is racist against her own race,” she said, adding that the teen is “consumed with the Ku Klux Klan.”

“I’ve had the KKK’s number since I was in middle school,” Treasure said. “The way they believe is just so smart.”

The KKK began in the southern states at the end of the American Civil War in 1865. The movement was revived in 1915 by William J Simmons and immediately grew by 1921 with over 100,000 members. By mid-1920s, the movement had about 5 million members.

With this massive following, the Klan believed that they, as white people, were superior to blacks, Jews and other minorities. In a response to the rise of civil rights movements in the 1960s, the KKK killed civil rights workers, initiated the Greensboro massacre and launched firebomb attacks at school buses.

Klan members responsible were rarely dealt with, as they had friends in the courts who would not find them guilty.

According to records, it was hard for the government to change the attitudes of the whites in the south, and politicians were scared of losing votes.

Such has been the ideals of the white supremacist group and so for a black girl to profess so much love for the Klan is what many people, particularly on social media cannot stomach.
