British-Nigerian Dele Aro Gives ‘Sister Act’ Live Treatment in London

British-Nigerian cinema expert and entrepreneur Dele Aro is set to bring “Sister Act,” a 1992 musical comedy, to life with a trailblazing live choir show in London this April.

Aro, who owns Amacoast Cinema, has partnered with the Uplifted Voices Choir for the show, which will run between April 21st and April 29th at Central Hall in Westminster.

There will also be a special guest performance by the highly energetic and MOBO award nominee act Volney Morgan and New-Ye as well as “Britain’s Got Talent” semi-finalist Gospel Singers Incognito (GSI).

The “Sister Act” live choir is comprised of 35 gospel singers and a complete band that is accompanied by onscreen nuns with live performances of songs from the film’s soundtrack.

Watch the choir prepare for “Sister Act” here:

“We intend to put on one of the most powerful and uplifting immersive live cinema experiences London has experienced,” says Aro.

“It’s great to see Amacoast Cinema connecting large diverse groups of people together to share a unique experience and create new memories around film.”

In recent years, live cinema has become a preference of film lovers, especially those looking for new and innovative ways to enjoy their favorite films.

Popular Comedy

“Sister Act” tells the hilarious story of Las Vegas, Nevada, lounge singer “Deloris Van Cartier (played by award-winning actress Whoopi Goldberg) who, after witnessing her boyfriend commit murder, has to be kept in witness protection because her boyfriend is determined to kill her.

Cartier is placed in an environment authorities think her boyfriend will never find her: the convent; Cartier disguises herself as a nun and reluctantly tries to accept her new lifestyle.

After several false starts, she eventually finds her place in the church choir, where she performs exceedingly well.

Aro says the live performance of “Sister Act” will offer an experience that will not only unite but also empower the audience while bringing a classical film to life.

His Legacy

Amacoast Cinema is known for its ability to create exclusive and celebratory cinema experiences around Black film by bringing together live performers and spectacular immersive environments to offer a remarkable cinema experience.

Eight years ago, while Aro was still in university pursuing a Business Management degree, he founded Amacoast Cinema as a DVD-distribution platform for Black films.

After numerous setbacks and learning curves, Amacoast Cinema has grown to become a renowned film company.
