Around the era of 1800 BCE, Egyptian women discovered that crocodile faeces shouldn’t just be swept and thrown out.

Crocodile faeces were mixed with fermented dough then applied to their vulvas or inside of the vagina to prevent pregnancy.

It is speculated that the alkalinity of the faeces would cause sperm to die.
