It appears that Elon Musk and his ex-partner, Grimes, are not on good terms, as the singer claims that the South African-born billionaire has blocked her on X, the social media platform he owns.
Grimes, born Claire Elise Boucher, shares three children with Musk, 54. The Canadian musician, on December 11, disclosed that Musk had blocked her on X after a user on the social media platform shared that she was no longer following her ex-partner.
“For context I’m just living my life,” Grimes, 37, wrote in response a post. “He followed me then blocked me. I’m not gna be following and unfollowing. My only priority is co parenting, i am not interested in public dramatics. This is so silly lol.”
Grimes and Musk became romantically involved in 2018, and they welcomed their first child, son X Æ A-Xii (“X”), in May 2020, PEOPLE reported. The former couple’s second child, daughter Exa Dark, was born via surrogate in December 2021. They then welcomed their second son, Techno Mechanicus, in June 2022.
Grimes, in October 2023, filed a petition seeking parental rights for the three children she shares with Musk, the news outlet reported. She also took to X in November 2024 to state that she had to take a break from music because of a custody battle between her and Musk.
“Spent a year locked in battle in a state with terrible mothers rights having my instagram posts and modeling used as reasons I shouldn’t have my kids and fighting and detaching from the love if my life as he comes unrecognizable to me, with a fraction of his resources (or iq/strategy experience),” she shared at the time.
In February 2025, Grimes similarly took to X to urge Musk to stop ignoring her and respond to their child’s “medical crisis,” Face2Face Africa reported at the time. She, however, did not disclose which of their three children was experiencing the said medical crisis. She later deleted the posts.
“Plz respond about our child’s medical crisis,” she commented on a post shared by Musk, The Daily Beast reported. “I am sorry to do this publicly but it is no longer acceptable to ignore this situation. This requires immediate attention. If you don’t want to talk to me can you please designate or hire someone who can so that we can move forward on solving this. This is urgent, Elon.”
Grimes, in a different post, refused to expatiate on the topic, but she claimed the Tesla CEO “won’t respond” to texts, calls, or emails and has “skipped every meeting.”
“Our child will suffer lifelong impairment if he doesn’t respond asap, so I need him to f**k*ng respond and if I have to apply public pressure then I guess that’s where we are at,” she added.
Grimes later said she was deleting the posts because “if they’re being shadow-banned and not eliciting a response then all it is is a media circus at the expense of the kids.”
