Spotlight: Nonhle ThemaI don’t know about most of you but I remember holidays back home watching Nonhle blossom on TV. The stunning channel O presenter captured the hearts of young people all over the African continent after making the leap from beauty pageants to becoming a TV VJ.

The marriage of her two most prominent assets, her beauty and proficient spell in journalism, has remarkable roots. Her father, Derrick, was an author and journalist, while her mother Cynthia was the first black woman to ever be allowed to enter a Miss World competition back in 1972. Little wonder then, where her beauty and excellence in journalism come from.

Since 2007 to this day, Nonhle has been spotlighted on Channel O and DSTV; where you can find this beautiful and talented youth icon.

Her resume describes her journey through hosting various shows from MNet’s O-Access (2007-2010), The Channel O Music Video Awards(2008-2009), V Entertainment(2009-2011), Oboma, O News, and Street Bangers, to her entertaining “Nonhle Goes to Hollywood” show.

She is arguably the most hardworking VJ on the African continent.

In an era of African satellite TV where young people had only MTV DJs Quddus, Neil Cole, and Trevor Nelson to look up to as entertainment broadcast journalists, Nonhle is a nice addition to African Digital Satellite Television.

Here’s to Nonhle Thema, who is empowering young people and doing her bit to restore Africa’s Image.

“The future belongs to those who are able to transform any obstacle into an opportunity.”
