Brandy addressed her early exit from Saturday’s concert with Monica, where she abruptly left the stage mid-performance. The singer discussed the incident in an Instagram post on October 19.
The audience was left without an explanation after Brandy did not return to the stage. This joint tour with Monica was announced earlier this year, celebrating over two decades since the R&B stars’ 1998 hit collaboration, as reported by People.
As shown in videos circulating on social media, before her exit, Brandy told the audience, “Give me one second, y’all. I gotta get my…”
On Sunday, the 46-year-old wrote, “Thank you all for the overwhelming love, support, and — most importantly — your prayers.”

“I sincerely apologize for the abrupt end to last night’s performance in Chicago. After weeks of nonstop rehearsals, last night I experienced dehydration and feelings of wanting to faint. Everyone involved agreed that prioritizing my well-being was of the utmost importance,” she continued.
“I still made the decision to try and return and give it my all despite not feeling okay. With having to make some adjustments and the show being very technical, unfortunately, it was impossible to fully connect sonically with the production. I really appreciate everyone’s best efforts,” added the star.
During their “The Boy Is Mine” Tour at Chicago’s United Center, Brandy abruptly exited the stage while performing with Monica, 44, and did not return. Monica completed the rest of the set alone, and the audience left without hearing the duo’s famous song, “The Boy Is Mine.”
Thanking Monica for how she handled the unexpected situation, Brandy wrote, “I’m deeply grateful to my sister, Monica, for stepping up with such grace and professionalism, and to the entire crew for their continued care and support. I went from the arena to see a doctor nearby and have taken the proper precautions to help moving forward.”
“Your understanding, patience, and unwavering belief mean the world to me. I look forward to returning to the stage — stronger and more grateful than ever — alongside my girl, Monica, tonight in Indianapolis,” Brandy concluded her post.
Indeed, on Sunday, Brandy returned to the stage, performing her entire set at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Monica reshared Brandy’s recent statement on her Instagram Stories.
Earlier this month, Brandy shared her perspective on the popular song with Essence, stating, “I see it as so much bigger than just a hit record.”
She added, “At the time, it was two young women coming together, bringing our voices and our stories into one moment — and the world connected with it in a way we couldn’t have imagined. To see how that song connected with people all over the world — and still does — is such a blessing.”
