Women have been breaking glass ceilings every day. Most of their achievements used to go unnoticed but not anymore. Though 2020 has proven to be a rather difficult year for many, there were some women who rose above the odds to be the firsts in their respected fields and for that we applaud them.

From having the first African-American female vice president-elect in the United States to having the first African-American woman chairing a Fortune 500 company, many women made tremendous strides in their different sectors.

Here are the groundbreaking women in 2020 who went above and beyond to be the firsts, paving ways for others to follow suit.
