Thabo Mbeki

Thabo Mvuyelwa Mbeki was the second President of South Africa from June 14, 1999, to September 24, 2008.

Despite the fact that the South African economy grew to 4.5% during his tenure, Former president Mbeki was recalled by the National Executive Committee of the African National Congress and subsequently resigned nine months before his presidency was over.

He has resumed his duties as the facilitator of the African Renaissance Conference for which he premiered the renaissance theme in 1997.

Mbeki has even elected to work hand-in-hand with Cyril Ramaphosa as an advisor to the ANC via the NEC. He is also a key component in the South Sudanese conflict resolution mechanism put together by the African Union.
