Unripe Plantain

Well, it is not everything that is unripe that isn’t edible. Let’s take plantain for instance.

Though spicy fried ripe plantain always seems to be the order of the day, another very healthy alternative is boiled unripe plantain. Among the Akan tribe in Ghana, for instance, boiled unripe plantain, known as apem is usually paired with steamed cocoyam leaves stew known as kontomire.
