This incredible Senegalese artist can paint with just about anything he touches

Art is a beautiful form of expression. Many people tend to understand the pieces through their lenses and that is what makes art appreciation even more beautiful.

Many conventional artists usually paint with brushes and palettes with their eyes fixed on their canvasses. For Senegalese-born artist Boubou Niang, making avant-garde pieces do not necessarily require brushes or even having his eyes opened.

He sometimes works his magic from behind the canvas.

The 25-year-old actually paints with anything his hands can find and he is well known on social networks as Boubou design.

His following catapulted when he painted American actor Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson with dumbbells. Dwayne shared the post on Instagram and Boubou became an overnight sensation in the states as well.

The post, to date, has raked in about 22.3 million views on Instagram and Boubou’s following is now 1.1 million from just under 50 thousand followers.

The internet has been kind to Boubou whose works have been shared several times by his ardent followers. The other interesting fact about him is that most of his works are done upside down.

Other celebrities who have graced Boubou’s canvas are Beyoncé whom he painted using a shoe. He also paid homage to Eritrean-born rapper Nipsey Hussle by painting him using a cap.

If Boubou says he’s made an artwork of Apple founder Steve Jobs, then, of course, he used an iPhone and the finishing was impeccable just like all his works.

In a BBC interview, the Dakar artist said he could paint with pretty much anything.

“I can paint with a ball, I even paint with boxing gloves, for me art is freedom,” he said. He also indicated that social networks are a double-edged sword; they can either make or unmake you.

Boubou admits that these networks have been of enormous help to him. People in the creative industry exist on their pieces, and as he rightly admits, art is his life.

Boubou continues to serve his followers and fans with his creative masterpieces, and we can’t wait to see the many tricks he has under his sleeve.
