This is how Patti LaBelle and Cardi B met for the first time for their new holiday campaign

Cardi B’s Whipshots alcoholic whipped cream and Patti LaBelle’s Good Life pies have collaborated for the holiday season. Even though the two had never been formally introduced before this collaboration, LaBelle said she had felt for a long time that she and the famous rapper were “supposed to be together.”

She told People, “I’ve been her mother in my mind for a long time because she’s just all that and a bag of chips. And I’m all that and a bag of chips.”

The rapper, 31, admitted that their union had taken a while to come together, but that did not make her any less anxious about meeting the R&B icon.

“I feel like I’m not worthy, I just feel so shook!” Cardi said, while LaBelle shook her head next to her. “I’m super starstruck. I’m on my best behavior.”

79-year-old LaBelle told Cardi jokingly, “Oh, don’t be on your best behavior with me because I’m really bad,” and she replied, “Miss Patti, I will be doing splits on these tables.”

LaBelle’s prepared food line reportedly includes a variety of frozen and fresh dishes like banana pudding, macaroni and cheese, and, of course, her renowned pies, according to the outlet. LaBelle’s Good Life has been in business for fifteen years, and according to Forbes, the company made approximately $200 million in revenue in just the previous year.

Cardi is still in awe of LaBelle’s culinary brand, Patti’s Good Life, in addition to her musical career. 

“I got to take [inspiration] from you,” Cardi said about her food line, Whipshots. The boozy whipped cream was released almost two years ago and comes in pumpkin spice, peppermint, vanilla, mocha, and caramel, all of which have 10% ABV.

The campaign teaser shows LaBelle welcoming Cardi into her home with sitcom-style editing. A lively soundtrack plays as the video cuts quickly between scenes of the musical icons giggling, hugging, toasting with wine glasses, and enjoying pie with whipped cream. 

Cardi captioned the video: “Drinking @whip_shots with a with a slice of Patti pies was EVERYTHING.. I can’t wait for Thanksgiving ❤️ Being with Ms Patti and her family was such a honor. The way she speaks with such gentleness, calmness, and grace is soooo soothing.. I kept asking her questions just to hear her talk and one hug from her was so warm it makes you just feel welcome and like you knew her forever! So charming and so sweet but at the same time you can tell she can get real Philly on ya ass if she needs to! ???? Thank you so much @mspattilabelle you are everything and I’m coming over for dinner every chance I get!!!
