Top 10 classic African films you need to watch

Hotel Rwanda – 2004

Hotel Rwanda is the most recent movie on the list but has still managed to make its ways as an African classic. The movie stirred up a lot of emotions and controversies and went on to win several global awards including the USA Satelite awards for Best Motion Picture.

The movie is a fictional story that delves into the Rwandan Civil War also known as the Rwandan Genocide which arose from the long-running dispute between the Hutu and Tutsi groups. In the movie, Paul Rusesabagina a hotel manager is who is Hutu is forced to house several Tutsi refugees in his hotel for safety. The movie takes an emotional and captivating turn when the U.N Military pulls out of the war.
