Mount Cameroon

Also known as “Fako,” Mount Cameroon is an active volcano located near the Gulf of Guinea. The mountain is the highest point in sub-Saharan, western, and central Africa and is the fourth most prominent peak in Africa. Mount Cameroon is part of the larger Cameroon Volcanic Line, an active volcanic activity, which also encompasses Lake Nyos. The most recent volcanic eruption occurred in February 2012.
