Slavery still remains one of the most shameful social injustices ever committed against Africans and Black people in general by fellow human beings. Sadly, this kind of abuse is still rampant in different parts of the world, albeit in a more present-day form.

But even in their oppressed state, Black captives strived to uplift themselves and leave a mark in the journals of history. For that reason, it is imperative for us to celebrate those who suffered the worst to guarantee us the freedom we enjoy today.
