A woman from Mississippi is receiving praise for what she did after learning of her son’s behavior. She drove her son to the police station in Magee, Mississippi, after he was accused of attacking a Walmart employee.
According to police, they were called to Walmart concerning an ongoing assault. When the cops arrived, they discovered that the employee had been assaulted.

During the process of identifying the offender, a mother called police dispatch to inform them that she was bringing her child to the police station in connection with the attack.
“It’s important to note that no one had contacted her or the suspect,” the Magee Police Department wrote in a Facebook post. “She did it on her own. That’s what a parent who holds their child accountable does.”
The man, later identified as Norman Whitlock, was taken into custody and charged.
Social media users responded to the department’s post by complimenting both the mother and her son on their excellent behavior.
One wrote, “Taking accountability for the action says a lot about this young man. It’s the first step learning to deal with your problems, mistakes, or accidents. Regardless if he did it or not… accepting responsibility for a wrong is hard but it’s so necessary in being a man!!! Learn my brother from your mistake and you’ll do just fine in this life! If he needs to be bailed out let me know and I’ll help!!!”
Another stated, “He’s a good kid, one of the most humble and respectful young men I know. And his mother? She’s the kind of parent and community member you wish more people were like. She stands up for what’s right no matter who’s wrong. No one deserves to be assaulted but I wished they would’ve add who or what provoked him because this is definitely not his image or the image his mother has bestow upon herself or the community. I hope to see more the efforts and support countless support that she has given to the police department and community posted like this MISTAKE so she could get the hand clap she deserves instead of one for being what comes naturally BEING A OUTSTANDING MOTHER AND PERSON.”
Another commented, “That mama loves her baby… enough to give him tough love. How many of us have that kind of strength?”
On the other hand, Magee Police Department Chief Denis J. Borges used the social media post to caution people about the risks of letting anger control one’s behavior.
He said, “Please don’t let a moment of anger get the best of you. It’s simply not worth it. If someone is actively assaulting you, you have the right to defend yourself but words alone do not give you the right to assault anyone.”
