Cameroon’s University of Buea Graduates 300 Medical Personnel

Cameroon, Buea (Face2Face Africa) The University of Buea (UB) sent out its third batch of medical doctors from the Faculty of Health Sciences of the institution over the weekend. The academic ceremony, which was held at the open amphitheater of UB, was chaired by Cameroon’s Chancellor of Academic Orders and Minister of Higher Education Prof. Jacque Fame Ndongo, who was accompanied by the republic Secretary of State for Public Health in charge of epidemics and pandemics, Alim Hayatou.

Prof. Ndongo described the third batch of graduating students as the pride of UB, while he beckoned them to use the very rich knowledge acquired to work wherever and whenever the need arises.

The Vice Chancellor of UB, DR. Nolova Lyonga, showered praises on the government of the republic for providing structures and equipment that served as both a moral and psychological booster to the performance of the students.

Dr. Lyonga also announced a partnership agreement that has been signed between the United States embassy in Yaounde and the ministries of public health and higher education for the training of epidemiologists in the University of Buea by the center of disease control in Atlanta, Georgia, USA. She also encouraged the graduating students to be good ambassadors of the faculty and UB wherever they will be posted to work.

The prize for the best graduating student went to Dr. Sih Collete, who scored a GPA of 3.49 on a scale of 4.00. She also presented the validation speech.

An ecumenical service preceded the colorful and solemn graduation ceremony.

Roland Muma

Roland Muma comes from the North West Region of the Republic of Cameroon. He started his career as an amateur broadcaster with Abakwa FM 99.0 in 2002, after which he enrolled for a Higher National Diploma program in Print Journalism and later a Professional Bachelor of Technology Degree program in Journalism at National Polytechnic Bambui-Bamenda. His professional career started with Radio Hot Cocoa FM 94 as News writer/presenter and broadcaster. He later moved to Ocean City Radio in Douala as News Desk Editor. He then returned to his native Bamenda and worked with Foundation Radio, Digital Multimedia Network Centre FM 96 as Chief of Programs. Currently, he is Chief of Service for Tourist Sites at the South West Regional Delegation of Tourism and Leisure in Buea and a correspondent for Face2Face Africa covering Cameroon. He has contributed several news articles to both local and international media outlets.
