St. Mary’s Cathedral Rubaga
Locally referred to as “Rubaga Cathedral,” St. Mary’s Cathedral Rubaga is the Mother cathedral of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Kampala, the oldest Roman Catholic diocese in Uganda. It is located on Lubaga hill, in western Kampala, and is the home church of the Archbishop of Kampala.
The cathedral was constructed by French missionaries in 1925 and houses the remains of the late-Archbishop Joseph Kiwanka who was the first African Catholic bishop and the first African Archbishop of Kampala Diocese.
