Lake Mutanda
Located in Kisoro District, in southwestern Uganda, Lake Mutanda is a small freshwater lake nestled in the foothills of Virunga Mountain. The lake hosts several islands and is drained by River Rutshuru, which flows northward to Lake Edward.
Lake Mutanda is surrounded by great scenery, including lakeside forests and wetland habitats, which host endangered mountain gorillas. The lakeside environment also accommodates a diverse range of animal species, such as kingfisher birds, ibis, and crested crane (Uganda’s national bird).
