African American actress and comedian Sherri Shepherd made a startling revelation on her Instagram page claiming to have shed over 25 pounds in 260 days, no thanks to sugar.
The 51-year-old Chicago native posted a selfie on Instagram flaunting her weight loss which she achieved from going sugar-free for more than eight months and relying solely on Keto diet.
“Getting it in!!! Over 260 days #sugarfree … can’t begin to describe how #amazing I feel … ‘I’ve done this slowly and steadily and since March I’ve come down over 25lbs. This is not a fad – it’s my life that is at stake. It feels so good to feel #good,” the TV star posted with the new look as she wore a black tank top, torn camouflage jeans and thigh-high boots.
She added that the dietary change has given her some energy and clarity of thought and mind as she grows more patient with her son and hears more clearly from God.
The one-time co-host on The View and the Less than Perfect actress told Wendy Williams in an interview in July that she was inspired to make a change for the better after a chat with her 13-year-old son Jeffrey.
“Sometimes you go through stuff and you want to just grab something sweet; ex-husbands, things like that … And I was doing that and Jeffrey was in the backseat, Wendy, and I was eating something I wasn’t supposed to. He said, ‘Mommy, if you die, who’s going to be my bodyguard?’ … and literally I said, ‘Sherri, you’ve got to do something different.’”
Many African Americans are using different ways to lose weight without necessarily going to the gym. The Keto diet or ketogenic diet is one of the many ways which forces the body to burn fats rather than carbohydrates.
It includes a high-fat, adequate-protein, low-carbohydrate diet that in medicine is used primarily to treat difficult-to-control epilepsy in children. The dietary programme can only be safely implemented by registered dietitians.
