Love is blooming for Mary J. Blige. The R&B legend, 53, revealed on the September 23 episode of Sherri that she has found new romance while promoting the final season of Power Book II: Ghosts. Blige shared her journey of moving past divorce and embracing a fresh chapter in her love life.
She added that her 2018 divorce from ex-husband Kendu Isaacs taught her the power of forgiveness, as reported by PEOPLE.
“What I’ve learned is that forgiveness was for me,” she told host Sherri Shepherd. “So excuse me when I say this, ‘The hell with them.’”
Blige continued: “I don’t like that ugly, bitter feeling ‘cause that’s not mine. That belongs to you. You did what you did. But I have to move on and in order for me to feel good and to manifest all the good things in my life, I have to let go for me. Not for you, this is not for you. Trust me, this is not for you, this is for me.”
After the “Family Affair” musician said she wanted to “walk in that joy” and “newness,” Shepherd, 57, asked Blige if she was dating someone new.
“You know already Sherri, everybody knows,” Blige replied. “Yes.”
The “No More Drama” artist added that the relationship is “going well.”
“I feel good about me. I look good TO ME. I feel good to ME. And so, I’m embracing me. So when you embrace you, everything is embracing you. When you want you, everything wants you. Everything good,” Blige said.
She added that the relationship is going well “because I’m not holding anybody accountable about making me feel good for me.”
Blige is expected to release her new album Gratitude on November 15.
“Because that’s where I am,” she said of the album title.
