Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign office in Tempe, Arizona, was targeted by gunfire, police reported on Tuesday. Staffers discovered apparent bullet holes in the front windows on Monday and alerted the authorities.

This incident marks the second shooting at the office in two weeks, with a previous attack involving a BB or pellet gun occurring just after midnight on September 16, as reported by Daily Mail.

“No one was inside the office during the overnight hours, but this raises concerns about the safety of those who work in that building, as well as those nearby,” Public Information Officer Sgt. Ryan Cook said.

The police are investigating the motives behind the shooting at Harris’ campaign office. Currently treating the incident as a property crime since the office was empty at the time, officers are analyzing collected evidence.

To ensure the safety of Democratic workers and nearby residents, police have implemented additional security measures. Local news footage revealed two bullet holes in the office door and two more in the windows.

The Tempe office is one of 18 field offices for Harris’ campaign in Arizona. It is also shared by staffers from local Senate and House campaigns, according to NBC News.

“We are grateful to Tempe Police for coming quickly to the scene, and are fortunate no one was present or injured,” said Sean McEnerney, Arizona Democratic Party’s coordinated campaign manager.

Democratic Congressman Greg Stanton also expressed “a debt of gratitude for each and every campaign staff member, volunteer and canvasser who works out of this critical campaign office.”

“It’s unnerving, but with just 42 days until the end of this election, it won’t stop the important work from getting done,” he posted to X.

The shooting at Harris’ campaign office occurred just days before her scheduled campaign visit to Arizona.

Harris is set to return to the state on Friday, her first trip since an August 9 rally in Glendale where she discussed border security and a pathway to citizenship for undocumented immigrants.

She is also considering a visit to the southern border during her trip, according to sources familiar with her schedule.
