A viral video of a woman brushing her hair in a first-class airplane cabin has ignited a heated debate on social media over what is proper behavior on a flight.
The video was originally posted by the woman herself and shows her casually brushing her hair and tying it back while seated in her spacious first-class seat.
However, another passenger in the background appeared visibly shocked and repeatedly kept staring at her in an unpleasing manner.

“Me in business class minding my business while aunty gives me nasty stares,” the woman captioned the post.
The original poster turned off comments on her video, but the clip was later reposted by another account with a different caption which read : “I just want to brush my hair in peace.”
The video has sparked loads of mixed reactions on social media with some users criticizing the act as unsanitary and inappropriate for a shared space. “Miss Ma’am, there’s a bathroom in first class big enough for all that,” one commenter said. Another added: “Nah, she better take that brush to the bathroom. (And that camera).”
Others stated that it was unhygienic, particularly in an area where food is served. “I don’t want someone brushing their hair next to me in a small space. Are their trays down? No thank you. Keep your stray hairs to yourself,” one user wrote.
“It is unsanitary to brush or comb hair outside of the bathroom. Hair holds all kinds of particles and elements that become free-flowing once they are released. Now you know”, another said.
There were some users who however defended the viral woman’s actions and argued that brushing hair on a flight is harmless. “Imagine being in someone else’s business and all they are doing is combing their hair? Smh,” one user stated. “People brush their hair on long flights. People need to chill,” another added.
Others took a more balanced stance and suggested the restroom as a better alternative though people have the right to do as they please.
“It’s okay to brush your hair, but preferably in the restroom. The hair being combed has to go somewhere, so why not in the trash?” one commenter suggested.
The opinions on what should be done have remained divided, yet etiquette and health experts have not recommended brushing hair in public spaces.
