Michelle Obama has revealed the circumstances that could lead to her husband, former president Barack Obama shedding some tears.
The former first lady, who made a stop for Oprah 2020 Vision: Your Life In Focus tour had the most intimate conversation that ranged from her time in the White House to marriage and raising her girls surrounded with extreme influence and power.
The most touching part of the conversation, however, was her revelation on what makes her 58-year-old husband break down in tears.
Obama revealed that like every other parent, the most emotional moments of their parenting are periods when their girls have to leave for either school or during graduation.
She said, “We bawl like babies”, adding that Barack gets that “ugly loud cry” when it gets to be too much.
She said Barack hid his tears at Malia’s graduation with a pair of sunglasses.
“When the emotions come is when we are getting in our cars and getting on a plane and leaving our babies [at college],” she told People. “They’re going somewhere where they now live. That’s when it hits you. It’s like we all start choking up.”
She added that the most emotional moment for her husband was when they dropped off Sasha at the University of Michigan last year.
Michelle who recently won the Grammy also disclosed that she tries to keep her hands off her daughters, Sasha and Malia, by not following them on social media.
She said it is time her daughters find their path as young adults.
“It’s better for them to be checked by somebody younger than me,” Mrs. Obama told Winfrey, saying that there’s younger people that the family has mentored that follows their daughters on social media so she doesn’t have to in order to keep tabs on them now that they’re living on their own as college students.”
Meanwhile, The Hills reports that a school district in California has unanimously voted to rename one of its elementary schools in honor of Michelle Obama.
As a result, the West Contra Costa Unified School District Board of Education will be renaming Wilson Elementary School, which is based in El Cerrito, Calif., the Michelle Obama Elementary School, an announcement said.
The Obamas have dedicated their time to developmental projects since leaving the seat of power in 2016.
Apart from her Grammy victory, the former first family took home the award for best feature-length documentary at the 92nd Oscars on Sunday for “American Factory”.
