Authorities in Florida arrested and charged a 39-year-old man who allegedly pulled out an 18-inch machete at a bar after his request to sing another karaoke song was denied. According to ClickOrlando, the Sunday incident occurred at Kennedys Lamp Post Tavern in Cape Canaveral.

The suspect, identified as Travis Jordan, has since been charged with ‘breach of peace-disorderly conduct.’ A probable cause affidavit stated that deputies who were called to the scene noticed Jordan was unable to stand properly. Besides smelling heavily of alcohol, the suspect’s eyes were said to be bloodshot and glassy.

An individual who spoke with deputies said the machete Jordan pulled out was hidden on his body, adding that the suspect pulled out the weapon after someone refused to allow him to have another go at the karaoke. The individual who denied Jordan’s request later managed to get him to safely give the machete to her, the affidavit stated.

A member of staff also kept the weapon out of harm’s way and got in touch with law enforcement as “everyone started freaking out.” Though Jordan did not deny being in possession of the weapon, he told deputies he had to “stay alert” to protect himself as he had been threatened some days earlier, ClickOrlando reported.

However, the affidavit stated that Jordan wasn’t in any danger when he pulled out the machete.
