NFL star Xavier Worthy has filed a lawsuit against his ex-fiancée Tia Jones in Williamson County, Texas, claiming she assaulted him, stole and destroyed over $150,000 in cash and property.
The 21-year-old’s suit alleges that Jones “schemed to extort a home, money, cars, and other valuables … by concocting false stories of domestic violence”. Worthy’s lawyers are now seeking between $250,000 and $1 million in damages, as per a Kansas City Star report.
On March 7, Xavier Worthy was arrested on suspicion of assault on a family member by impeding breathing or circulation, yet prosecutors decided not to press charges.
The suit now alleges that the entire situation began in February when Worthy asked Jones to leave the residence that he had purchased after he allegedly discovered infidelity on the part of Jones.
According to the suit, the NFL star asked Jones to leave the residence and offered to find her an apartment nearby “multiple times” over close to two weeks, yet she declined the offer.
Worthy added photos of damage to his game room in the lawsuit, as well as images where his hair had been torn out of his head.
“Rather than leave and separate amicably, Defendant Jones became enraged and engaged in a series of abusive, extortive efforts against Plaintiff and destroyed his game room, including his gaming desk and console [a PlayStation 5], and the key to his Rolls Royce,” the lawsuit stated, according to ESPN. “Defendant Jones began physically assaulting Plaintiff by scratching his face and ripping parts of his hair out, causing him pain and injury.”
As of Monday morning, Jones’ attorney reportedly declined to comment on Worthy’s lawsuit when reached by the Kansas City Star.
On social media, Chiefs fans are hoping the back-and-forth between Xavier Worthy and Tia Jones can finally come to a conclusion so their player can fully focus on the rest of his playing career.
