In the wake of reports that Marcus Jordan and Larsa Pippen had broken up, a source informed PEOPLE that the former couple “will probably get back together”, adding that their decision to end their relationship “came out of nowhere.”
The source also said Marcus, 33, and Larsa, 49, broke up during the Super Bowl weekend. Reports about the former couple splitting came after they unfollowed each other on Instagram and deleted photos they had of themselves.
“It happened Friday or Saturday, but most likely on Saturday,” the source said. “They were just with friends last Thursday or Friday and no one saw any issues and they were happy. They’ll probably get back together.”
“It’s relationship stuff. But apparently came out of nowhere so when the emotions settle, it will maybe be fine,” the source added. A different source also told the news outlet that the former couple opted to “take some time apart to reevaluate their relationship.”
“This has nothing to do with any family input, but solely for their personal growth,” the source said. In the wake of the rumors circulating about their split, Larsa took to Instagram on Monday to share what appeared to be a cryptic post.
“The man you choose to be your partner affects everything in your life. Your mental health, your peace of mind, your love inside you, your happiness, how you get through tragedies, your successes, how your children will be raised and much more,” she shared. “Choose wisely,” she added.
Larsa on Sunday also posted an Instagram Story poll: “Should your friends unfollow your ex?”
Marcus’ father, Michael Jordan, and Larsa’s ex-husband, Scottie Pippen, were former teammates. Face2Face Africa last year also reported that the NBA legend stated he wasn’t in favor of his son being romantically involved with Larsa.
Jordan, 60, was asked about his son’s girlfriend as he was entering a car after having dinner in Paris, TMZ reported. In the video, a photographer is heard asking the former Chicago Bulls player if he approves of his son’s relationship with the Real Housewives of Miami star. Jordan initially laughs in response to the question before saying “No!” after the question is repeated.
The former professional basketball player and billionaire businessman also appeared to shake his head after he was asked the same question the third time.
Marcus’ father and Pippen were teammates with the Chicago Bulls. Though they won multiple championships for the basketball franchise, their relationship appears to have gone downhill after Pippen registered his displeasure over how he was portrayed in Jordan’s “The Last Dance” Netflix-ESPN documentary. He also criticized Jordan in his “Unguarded” memoir.
