The owners of TRONUS, the first Black woman-owned shoe brand started by a female athlete, have added sports-focused Active Recovery Slides to their lineup of footwear products.

The brand, owned by athlete Santia Deck and her mom Cynthia Cureton-Robles, has also become the first female-owned sneaker company to sponsor global flag football champions.

The founders of the company, who come from a long line of athletes and have seen numerous athletes have their careers cut short by injury—often as a result of overuse or a lack of recovery—vowed to address this persistent problem head-on.

Thus, they began by focusing on flag football, one of America’s fastest-growing sports, which Santia and Cynthia both enjoy.

Following years of research, planning, and development, their most recent project—the ultimate recovery slides—has received endorsements from sports medicine experts, elite athletes, and top coaches. Among these is Dr. Kevin Flythe, a renowned chiropractor and sports rehabilitation specialist for professional and elite athletes.

He said, “Their sturdy shock-absorbing soles cushion the foot and protect it from high impact, thus reducing joint stress. They are more comfortable and reduce more foot fatigue than all the traditional slides that most athletes are wearing today,” per Black News

Together with Lucie Vinot, a member of the France 2023 National Flag Football Team, the brand has also partnered with athletes Darrell Doucette, Laval Davis, Dana Taylor, Kamrin Solomon, Shawn Theard, Jr., and Corey Webb.

Cynthia Cureton-Robles, COO/Co-Founder of TRONUS, expressed her excitement about the partnership: “We are thrilled to welcome Darrell, Kamrin, Dana, Laval, Shawn, Corey, and Lucie to our TRONUS family. Their remarkable talent, dedication, and passion for the game perfectly align with our brand’s ethos. This collaboration is more than just a sponsorship; it’s a movement towards redefining the standards of recovery footwear in sports and supporting athletes’ careers from the grassroots level to the professional arena.”

Santia, TRONUS CEO/Co-Founder, and former elite flag football athlete, passionately expressed, “I understand the importance of prioritizing recovery and comfort in athletic footwear firsthand. Our partnership with these exceptional athletes reflects our commitment to revolutionizing the industry and empowering athletes in one of America’s fastest-growing sports.”

Santia, a flag football pioneer, gained international recognition quickly thanks to her viral videos showcasing her running technique akin to that of Barry Sanders. She currently has over three million social media followers.

The article stated that TRONUS’ larger goal is to encourage young athletes across the country to prioritize their health and recovery by highlighting the significance of recuperation in athletes’ routines.

The brand is preparing to launch a series of activities highlighting its Active Recovery Slides and cushioned athletic footwear, promising a unique blend of fashion-forward style and functional excellence for both athletes and spectators.
