Scouts have been critical of Bronny James in the pre-draft process. Despite averaging under five points per game in his sole season at USC, Bronny declared for the upcoming NBA Draft. He also entered the transfer portal which allows him the window to opt out of the draft.

He was a McDonald’s All-American, but his progress was hindered by a cardiac arrest during a workout last summer, according to Fox News.

Despite some scouts doubting Bronny’s NBA prospects and expressing surprise if he gets drafted, there is however a notable interest in him.

Over ten teams have invited Bronny for pre-draft workouts, according to The Athletic, but he has accepted only two invitations: from the Los Angeles Lakers and the Phoenix Suns.

The Suns are considering him for the 22nd pick, while the Lakers hold the 17th selection. The Lakers are reportedly considering drafting Bronny to influence his father, LeBron James, who has a player option decision due two days after the draft.

While LeBron has expressed a desire to play with his son, recent reports indicate his priority is now on Bronny’s development. LeBron’s agent, Rich Paul, recently referred to him as a “free agent,” which might have been a revealing slip.

“We’re gonna evaluate the situation,” he added, “and we’re gonna make the best decision.”

If LeBron opts out of his current contract, which is valued at over $51 million, he could potentially sign a lucrative three-year deal worth $161.9 million with the Los Angeles Lakers.
