The new cast member of The Real Housewives of Atlanta, Angela Oakley, recently made it known that she attained her millionaire status without anyone’s help.
The businesswoman touched on her career and family during the latest episode of the television series, stating that her husband is former NBA star Charles Oakley.
“My husband Charles, he played in the NBA, mainly with the New York Knicks and the Chicago Bulls,” Angela said, per PEOPLE. “Charles cooks, he cleans. He’s like a dream come true!”
Angela also revealed that though she and Charles initially met at a party in Chicago, they only became romantically involved after they reconnected a decade later.
“We exchanged numbers, and then I didn’t hear from that man for another 10 years when we became neighbors in the same condominium,” she recalled. “I feel like our relationship was destined to happen.”
Angela in the episode additionally touched on her career, saying that she runs a financial consulting firm. “I am a self-made millionaire,” she said.
“There’s not a dollar I don’t want. I bought five properties that I am currently renovating [and] trying to sell. I will not let go until it’s finished. Because I feel like if I let go, I give up on everything I’ve been working for the past three years.”
In her confessional, Angela spoke about her marriage to Charles and how they’ve managed to keep their relationship on the right track.
“The secret for loving a man like Charles is just letting him be who he is,” Angela stated. “Charles and I sometimes can get in our own head, and he can’t hear me, and I can’t hear him.”
“Through therapy, I realized I wanted him to change,” she explained. “Then, I realized that I have flaws too.”
Angela and Charles share a 7-year-old daughter. They also have children from previous relationships, with Angela having a 24-year-old daughter and an 11-year-old son, PEOPLE reported. Charles, on the other hand, has a son.
