During a recent appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show, veteran actor Morgan Freeman, 88, gave a blunt response when the show’s host asked him about the one thing that he has to do every day.

Per PEOPLE, Freeman touched on that aspect of his life when he was talking about his successful career and what he intends to do in the future.

“What’s something you have to do, like every day?” Hudson, 44, asked Freeman. The octogenarian gave a straightforward answer, “Get up.”

“You better tell it!” Hudson said as Freeman laughed. “I’m 88, darling,” Freeman said, with Hudson saying that the actor reaching that age was “a blessing.”

And although Freeman has accomplished many things in his lifetime, he made it clear that he’s still not a perfect human being.

“You’ve done a lot. So is there something you’re still trying to perfect?” Hudson asked Freeman. “Yes. My golf swing,” the Now You See Me: Now You Don’t star responded. The 88-year-old also told Hudson that he wasn’t good at golf when she asked him if it was the opposite.

“You can always improve,” Freeman, however, said. “There’s always something you’ve gotta work on. So that’s what I’m trying to do.”

Though Freeman remains active in Hollywood, he seldomly makes public appearances. But on New Year’s Eve, The Shawshank Redemption star celebrated the occasion at his Mississippi bar, Ground Zero Blues Club, with Al Green. The Oscar winner joined the music legend on stage for a duet of Green’s 1971 hit, Let’s Stay Together.

Social media footage captured the performance, with Freeman and Green dressed sharply as they sang the chart-topping classic alongside a live band.

“I’m so in love with you / Whatever you want to do / Is alright with me / ‘Cause you make me feel so brand new / And I want to spend my life with you,” the two stars sang, grooving to the beat with massive smiles on their faces.

Freeman posted photos from the performance to X (formerly Twitter) and wrote, “We ushered in the New Year with Al Green and Kingfish at Ground Zero last night. Happy New Year, everyone!”

CNN’s Oscar Jimenez shared a video of the moment to his Instagram page, writing in the post’s caption, “Morgan Freeman got on stage to make his ‘dream come true.’ He said it was to sing with Al Green.”

Freeman co-founded Ground Zero Blues Club in 2001 to honor the Mississippi Delta’s blues heritage, and it continues to thrive as a cultural landmark.
