GloRilla has been outspoken about the close bond that she has with her father, and she recently put a smile on his face when she surprised him with a white Jaguar vehicle to celebrate his retirement.

Per Complex, GloRilla, born Gloria Hallelujah Woods, organized a retirement party for her father, Edwin C. Woods Sr., on Monday. Woods Sr. worked for the United States Postal Service (USPS) for almost three decades.

As a gesture of appreciation for his hard work, the Yeah Glo! rapper, at the event, announced the surprise that she got for her father before they gathered outside for the vehicle presentation.

“We celebrating my dad—his retirement,” the 26-year-old said before they went outside. “I’m pretty sure the post office appreciate all your hard work. You know I appreciate all your hard work. So I got a gift for you for your retirement party. You gotta come outside.”

GloRilla has previously touched on the bond that she has with her father, with the latter also showering praises on her daughter in a recorded message that was played to her when she appeared on the Tamron Hall Show in April 2024.

“I am very proud of my daughter, she has risen from humble beginnings to going to the White House,” Woods Sr. said at the time. “I am extremely proud of Gloria and may she have many, many more days of success.”

A teary GloRilla also reiterated her love for her dad. “I love my dad so much, he one of the closest people to my heart,” she said.

The TGIF rapper is also not a stranger when it comes to giving. In December 2024, Face2Face Africa reported that the 26-year-old rapper went back to her former high school and surprised students and staff with a $25,000 donation that was going to be used to upgrade their resources.

Per FOX 13, GloRilla also entertained the students and staff at Melrose High School in Memphis as she performed her hit song, Yeah Glo!

“I always wished somebody could do that when I was younger,” the Memphis rapper said. “So the fact that I have the ability to do it now, it warms my heart.”

To show gratitude for her donation, Melrose High Principal Kristopher Davis said they would rename their school library Gloria H. Woods Media Center.

“We want to upgrade our system so students can be more interactive, so they can research and take their learning to the next level,” Principal Davis said.
