Real Housewives of Atlanta star Kandi Burruss announced that she has decided to file for divorce from Todd Tucker after 11 years of marriage.
In a statement to PEOPLE, Burruss, 49, stated that she made the “decision to move forward with a divorce” after “deep thought and a lot of prayer.”
“This is a difficult and emotional time, but my focus remains on protecting my peace, being the best mother I can be, and co-parenting with love and respect,” she added.
“I’m stepping into a new chapter pouring into my work, my family, and my own growth. I’m grateful to everyone who supported us throughout the years, and I ask for privacy, grace, and understanding as we navigate this transition with our family.”
Burruss and Tucker, 52, met on set for the fourth season of The Real Housewives of Atlanta in 2011. They got engaged in January 2013 and married the following year. Burruss and Tucker share a 9-year-old daughter and a 5-year-old son.

In a 2022 interview with PEOPLE, Burruss touched on the secret to their happy marriage, stating that it was “just great communication and having fun together.”
“We have a real understanding of each other,” she added.
Though Burruss did not reveal the reasons behind their split, sources informed TMZ that the pair parted ways a few months ago after they drifted apart for a while. The sources also said that there has been “legitimately no drama” between the pair, and their split has been amicable.
The sources added that though Burruss no longer wears her wedding ring, she and Tucker still talk on phone daily and when they meet. Burruss is currently in New York City while Tucker is with the kids in Atlanta.
Reports said the former couple put their marital problems aside on Saturday for their six-year-old daughter Blaze’s Snow White-themed birthday party at Ready, Set FUN! in Atlanta. The two were seen smiling alongside their daughter Blaze in photos TMZ obtained.
Burruss and Tucker each shared separate Instagram wishes. “Happy birthday to my little twin @blazetucker!!!” Burruss wrote. “So strong, smart, talented, creative, big personality, & a winner! My beautiful little princess.” Tucker shared, “Happy Birthday to my Baby Blaze! She warms my heart every time I see her … Daddy loves you with all his heart!”
