Joyce Banda (President of Malawi)

Joyce served as the President of Malawi from April 2012 to May 2014 following the death of President Bingu wa Mutharika. She was the first woman to take up the role of President in Malawi, and is the Founder and Leader of the Peoples Party. Before taking the presidential seat, she was the Vice President of Malawi from 2009 to 2012, a former Minister of Foreign Affairs, and a former Minister of Gender, Child Welfare, and Community Service.
